Maple Snow Ice Cream

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 4 small bowls

Ingredients

  • 8 cups fresh clean snow loosely packed, collected in a clean bowl
  • 1 cup cold milk dairy or oat
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • berries or a sprinkle of cinnamon optional, to serve

Equipment

  • Large chilled mixing bowl
  • Spoon

Method

  1. Set a large bowl outside during a snowfall to collect clean, fresh snow. Keep it outside or in the freezer until you need it.
  2. Stir the cold milk, maple syrup, vanilla and salt together in a jug.
  3. Pour about a third of the milk mixture over the snow and stir gently. Keep adding milk and folding until it looks like soft-serve ice cream.
  4. Spoon into chilled bowls and eat straight away, topped with berries or cinnamon.

Notes

Collect snow in a clean bowl set outside during a snowfall, not from the ground. Keep the milk mixture cold, and stir in the snow a cup at a time; stop when it looks like soft-serve. Want it richer? Swap half the milk for half-and-half, or use 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk instead of the milk and maple syrup.
