Breakfast Fondue - Greek Yogurt Dip With Fruit & Waffle Dippers

Ingredients
  

  • For the Greek Yogurt Dip: 2 cups plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2% for best texture)
  • 1–2 tablespoons honey or pure maple syrup, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1–2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
  • Pinch of cinnamon or cardamom (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • For the Fruit: 1 cup strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup pineapple or mango chunks
  • 1 apple or pear, sliced
  • 1 banana, sliced (optional)
  • Lemon juice to toss with apple/banana to prevent browning
  • For the Waffle Dippers: 4–6 frozen waffles or mini waffles (or homemade), toasted
  • Butter for toasting (optional)
  • Cinnamon sugar or a drizzle of maple syrup (optional)
  • Optional Toppings for the Dip: 2 tablespoons granola or chopped nuts (almonds, pecans, pistachios)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds or hemp hearts
  • 1–2 tablespoons berry compote or jam swirl
  • Shaved dark chocolate or cacao nibs (a little goes a long way)

Method
 

  1. Make the yogurt dip: In a bowl, stir together Greek yogurt, honey or maple, vanilla, lemon juice, cinnamon (if using), and a pinch of salt. Taste and adjust sweetness or lemon. You want it creamy, tangy, and lightly sweet.
  2. Prep the fruit: Rinse and dry everything well. Slice strawberries, apple, and banana. Toss apple and banana slices with a little lemon juice to slow browning.
  3. Toast the waffles: Toast until crisp on the outside. If you like, brush with a bit of butter and dust with cinnamon sugar. Cut waffles into quarters or strips for easy dipping.
  4. Arrange the platter: Spoon the yogurt into a shallow bowl. Swirl in a dab of jam or sprinkle granola, nuts, or seeds on top for crunch. Surround with fruit and waffle dippers.
  5. Serve right away: The waffles taste best warm, and the yogurt is ideal cold and creamy. Set out small plates and let everyone dip and build bites.
