Prep Time 20 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes
Servings: 6 skewers

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cantaloupe or honeydew scooped into balls
  • 4 oz cheddar cheese cut into cubes
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks cut into triangle pyramids
  • 1 banana cut into thick rounds (cylinders)
  • 1 cup grapes halved for little ones
  • 6 strawberries cones!

Equipment

  • Melon baller
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Short skewers

Method

  1. Scoop melon balls, cut cheese into cubes, cut pineapple into small triangular pyramids and banana into cylinders.
  2. Sort the shapes into groups on a board and name each one.
  3. Thread the shapes onto skewers in patterns, like ornaments.
  4. Serve straight away, or stand them in a melon half to make a fruit Christmas tree.

Notes

For children under 4, skip the skewers and serve the shapes on a plate; cut grapes lengthwise and keep cubes small. Use blunt-ended skewers or cut the points off.
