Stir protein into the oats. Pour the protein slurry into the pot and stir thoroughly until fully combined. If it thickens too much, add a splash more milk to loosen.
Flavor and sweeten. Stir in vanilla and your sweetener of choice.
Taste and adjust—add more milk, a pinch more salt, or another drizzle of maple if needed.
Serve with fruit. Spoon into a bowl and top with sliced banana, berries, or your favorite fruit. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon, a spoon of nut butter, or a handful of nuts for texture.
Optional microwave method. Microwave oats and liquid in a large bowl for 2–3 minutes, watching for boil-over. Let sit 30 seconds.
Stir in protein slurry and finish with toppings.
